Atatürk Airport is one of the most important gateways of our country and is being run by our administration. Construction works of the Atatürk Airport project, comprising an international terminal building, a multi-level car park and complements, has been completed under a B.O.T model and has been operated by TAV since 10 January, 2000. The total cost of this project was 306 million US$.
The 264,000 m2 terminal building which has been built under this project has a capacity of 20 million passengers per year, served by 23 passenger gates, 224 check-in desks, restaurants, bars and duty-free shops. The project comprises a heating centre, a spare energy centre, refuse refinery, water tank, additional apron and a 7076 car capacity multi-level car park, all of which are equipped with the most up-to-date systems.
After the opening of Atatürk Airport New International Lines Terminal Building, the Old International Lines Terminal Building has entered into service as a Domestic Terminal Building.
In order to increase the passenger capacity of Antalya Airport, the second busiest airport in the country in terms of international aircraft and passenger traffic, the construction works of the New International Lines Terminal Building and complements was put out to tender in 1993 to serve 5 million international line passengers. The construction works were completed under the BOT model at the beginning of 1998 and the terminal has been operated by Antalya Airport International Terminal Management Company since then.
Due to the immerse increase in the number of international passengers using Antalya Airport, the new international
terminal turned out to be inadequate and the construction of the second terminal building has begun under the B.O.T model. The 2nd International Terminal Building is due to enter into service in April 2005.
In order to provide the required service to the increasing number of aircraft and to increase the aircraft acceptance capacity of the airport, the construction of the second runway was put out to tender, and on 17 July 1998 the foundation of the runway was laid. With the opening of this runway, for the first time in Turkey two aircraft will be able to depart and land at the same time in one airport.
Serving the capital city, Esenboğa Airport has an exceptional importance among the other airports managed by the DHMİ General Directorate. The project of the Esenboğa Airport New Domestic-International Lines Terminal Building and multi-level car park has been
tendered under a BOT model, the construction of the terminals has begun.
A tender has been realised for the construction of a new international terminal building and multi-level parking project at Adnan Menderes Airport under the B.O.T model. The construction of the terminal will begin soon. This project comprises a 102,000m2–enclosed area with a capacity of 5 million passengers annually, a terminal building with 9 passenger gates and a 2200 capacity car park.
A tender has been realised for the Dalaman Airport New International Terminal Building under the B.O.T. model and construction of the terminal has begun.
For the construction of Milas–Bodrum Airport’s International Terminal Building an international tender will be opened in 2005.
