The DHMİ Turkish Art Music Chorus, formed from DHMİ personnel, gave its first performance on 21 May 2004 at the activities organised for the 71st anniversary of the DHMİ General Directorate.
In Urla and Karaburun, the DHMİ has a search and rescue station and two training campuses, which also serve as recreational sites and campsites for the well being of the staff with a view to increasing work output.
The Youth and Sports Club of the DHMİ was founded in 1985 with a view to allowing its members and sportsmen to practise various sporting activities, developing mutual respect, contributing to moral and physical health training, and to allow young people to make use of their leisure time through sport.
Around 300 members of staff from Head Office and the main Directorate of Esenboğa airport are affiliated to the Club.
One of the principal aims of our Club is to provide our sportsmen with the basic training in sports. To this end, we have schools for volleyball, basketball, football, boxing and table tennis with 200 licensed sportsmen and women DHMİ Sport Club Boxing Team Member Miss Derya AKTOP won a Silver Medal in the name of the National Team at the 3rd European Championship held in Italy, Riccione in October 2004, while Miss Hasibe ÖZER, won a Bronze Medal, also in boxing.
The DHMİ Sport Club organised a “Summer School” for children in such activities as football, Tae Kwon-Do, basketball, volleyball, swimming and folk dancing.
