Under Article 5 of Decree-Law No: 233, the responsible decision-making body at the highest level of the DHMi is the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors, chaired by the Director-General, comprises a president and five members. The Director-General is nominated through a joint decision upon a proposal from the Minister of Transport; members are nominated by joint decision, including two upon a proposal from the Minister of Transport, one upon the proposal from the minister responsible for the Treasury; and two from among the deputy Directors-General for the Administration upon a proposal of the Minister for Transport, all for a three-year mandate.
