In Urla and Karaburun, the DHMi has a search and rescue station and two training campuses, which also serve as recreational sites and campsites for the well being of the staff with a view to increasing work output.
The DHMi Youth and Sports Club was founded in 1985 with a view to allowing its members and sportsmen to practice various sporting activities, developing mutual respect, contributing to moral and physical health training, thus allowing young people to make use of their leisure time through sport.
The principal aim of the club is to provide our sportsmen with the basic training in sports. To this end, we have schools for volleyball, basketball, football, boxing and table tennis, with 200 licensed sportsmen and women.
Every year, the DHMi Sport Club organizes a “Summer School” for children in such activities as football, Tae Kwon-Do, basketball, volleyball, swimming and folk dancing.
During the 2005-2006 season, the DHMi 12-14 age group football team won the Ankara Championship, the 14-16 and 16-18 age groups took bronze medals; while in volleyball the girls' team took the gold medal.
