RECORD INCREASE IN PASSENGER TRAFFIC



Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that in January 2024, the domestic passenger traffic at airports serving throughout Türkiye reached 7,046,117, while international passenger traffic reached 7,684,672. He mentioned, 'In this month, a total of 14,739,696 passengers were served, including direct transit passengers.

Minister Uraloğlu announced aircraft, passenger, and cargo statistics for January 2024 in a written statement by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).

Uraloğlu reported that the number of aircraft taking off and landing, at passenger and eco-friendly airports, was 61,467 domestically and 53,224 internationally bringing the total air traffic to 155,221, including overflights.

DOMESTIC PASSENGER TRAFFIC INCREASED BY 4.2%, WHILE INTERNATIONAL PASSENGER TRAFFIC SAW A GROWTH OF 11.9%.

Minister Uraloğlu indicated that there has been an increase of 5.6% in January in total aircraft traffic (including overflights) when compared with the same month of 2023. He stated, 'In January, the domestic passenger traffic at airports serving throughout Türkiye was 7,046,117, and international passenger traffic was 7,684,672. This month, a total of 14,739,696 passengers were served, including direct transit passengers. When comparing the passenger traffic served in January 2024 with the same month of 2023, there is an 8.1% increase in total passenger traffic, with a 4.2% increase in domestic passenger traffic and an 11.9% increase in international passenger traffic, including direct transit passengers.

Uraloğlu noted that airport cargo (cargo, mail, and baggage) traffic reached 62,019 tons domestically and 275,424 tons internationally in January, a total of 337,443 tons.

ISTANBUL AIRPORT SERVED 6 MILLION PASSENGERS IN JANUARY.

Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, provided data on aircraft traffic at Istanbul Airport in January, stating: 'The total number of aircraft taking off and landing reached 40,848, with 8,910 domestically and 31,938 internationally. At this airport, a total of 6 million passengers were served, with 1,234,576 domestically and 4,767,043 internationally. When comparing the passenger traffic served in January 2024 with the same period of 2023, there is a 6% increase in total passenger traffic, with a 1% increase in domestic passenger traffic and a 7% increase in international passenger traffic.

The total aircraft traffic, taking off and landing in January 2024, increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2023.

SABIHA GÖKÇEN AIRPORT SAW A 13% INCREASE IN PASSENGER TRAFFIC.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, in January, the total aircraft traffic reached 8,616 domestically and 10,561 internationally with a total amount adding to 19,177. The passenger traffic during this period has reached 3,155,053 passengers, with 1,446,739 being domestically and 1,708,314 internationally.

Comparing these figures of passenger traffic served in January 2024 with the same month of 2023, Minister Uraloğlu reported a 13% increase in total passenger traffic, with a 7% increase in domestic passenger traffic and an 18% increase in international passenger traffic. The Minister also shared the information regarding the total aircraft traffic in January 2024, when compared to the same month in 2023, showing a 9% increase.

Minister Uraloğlu mentioned that at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, where general aviation activities continue, there were 2,071 aircraft movements in January.
