The State Airports Authority (DHMI), which regulates and controls Turkish Airspace and operates airport facilities, was established in 1933 and has continued to provide aviation services under various statuses to the present day.

          Educational services, which were carried out under the Department of Education and Social Affairs for a certain period, began to provided by the Education Branch under the Department of Human Resources when the aforementioned department was transformed into the Department of Support Services.

          However, in recent years, it has become clear that investing in human resources is the most valuable investment an organization can make, both globally and in our country. Consequently, regardless of the field of activity, it has become inevitable that the importance of education in corporate life and the necessity of conducting it professionally have emerged as one of the most important components of improving service quality.

          The State Airports Authority (DHMİ) is an institution synonymous with education due to its structure, duties, and mission. In fact, considering the courses and training programs it offers, it would not be wrong to call DHMİ an educational institution. Every employee assigned to the institution goes through long or short training and certified or licensed.

           Based on the view that establishing a training academy would be an important step towards creating a scientific identity and personality within an institution that provides so much training, strengthening its mission of guiding the aviation sector, managing trainings under one roof, and training expert instructors, work began on establishing The Aviation Academy.

           In accordance with all that purposes, several steps was taken, and as a first step, The Aviation Academy was established by making the necessary adjustments to the organizational structure to manage the Organization's training services from a centralized point. Subsequently, the Organization's training activities were carried out in a more systematic, effective, efficient, and scientifically grounded methods, and to bring together the 84 years of knowledge and experience of the State Airports Authority under a scientific framework to add value to aviation in our country, our region, and the world, the DHMİ Aviation Academy, affiliated with the Directorate State of Airport Central, commenced operations on October 25, 2017.
